The RIBA Bookshop, Europe’s leading specialist architectural bookshop supplying books, gifts, stationery and construction contracts to all those with a passion for the built environment, will temporarily close on 31 May for refurbishment works of the building as part of the House of Architecture programme.

While the physical bookshop will be closed for the duration of the refurbishment works, RIBAbooks.com remains available, selling RIBA publications and contracts, JCT contracts, Approved Documents and a small selection of third-party publications.

The RIBA Bookshop will additionally be open for this year’s RIBA Late: Under (Re)Construction event on 20 May, from 7pm to 10pm, an evening of talks, live performances and displays.

David Plummer, Head of Trade and Retail Sales at RIBA says: “Books will continue to remain at the heart of RIBA’s offering at this time and will feature prominently once the refurbishment is complete. We look forward to welcoming visitors back to our much-loved bookshop following the refurbishment.”
The House of Architecture is a transformative programme that will focus on RIBA’s architectural collections, upgrades to digital technology, and sensitive, essential refurbishment and restoration of 66 Portland Place in London to make it more accessible, usable, sustainable and welcoming.

The London headquarters at 66 Portland Place will be temporarily closed to the public from 1 June 2025 onwards and vacated by 29 August to commence its refurbishment and restoration. The programme for the construction phase – enabling works, construction, and fit out – is anticipated to take approximately two and a half years.

The RIBA Bookshop at 66 Portland Place, London, will remain open until 31 May 2025. After this date RIBAbooks.com remains available, selling RIBA publications and contracts, JCT contracts, Approved Documents and a small selection of third-party publications.
